Any Super Bowl party worth its salt had better include a platter piled high with chicken wings. Whether you prefer them blazing hot or sweet and sour, there’s something addictive about each juicy little bite of meat on the bone. Best of all, there’s nothing fussy about them—everyone can eat with their hands and revel in the finger-lickin’-good mess.
Buffalo wings (tossed in butter and hot sauce, and served with blue cheese dressing) are perhaps the most well-known flavor, but chicken is extremely versatile, so you can get creative with your sauces. We’ve got six sure-fire recipes for game-day wings, from a double-spiced version of the classic Buffalo to sweet and sour wings made with pineapple juice. Like heat? Opt for the Jamaican jerk wings, and don’t be shy with the seasoning. Or, if you plan to be glued to the game, try the Thai wings in peanut sauce. They’re made in a slow cooker, so you don’t have to miss a play.
Buffalo Wings: A spicy marinade gives these wings (pictured above) an added dose of heat and flavor. For an instructional play-by-play, watch this video, “How to Make Buffalo Wings.”
Sweet-and-Sour Chicken Wings: Pineapple, ketchup, and vinegar give these wings a sweet, fruity tang.
Grilled Chicken Wings: Brush off the snow and fire up the grill (or use an indoor grill machine)—then add one of these six sauces.
Hot and Spicy Wings: Fresh basil and parsley lend fresh flavor to the creamy dipping sauce served with these spicy wings.
Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings: You can adjust the heat on these citrusy wings by adding more or less of the spicy jerk seasoning.
Thai Chicken Wings with Peanut Sauce: These Thai-style wings are made in the slow cooker with lime, ginger, and soy sauce, for an authentic Asian flavor. The mellow sauce is made with peanut butter. How easy is that?
