There’s a reason you often find bottled salsa in the store next to the chips: they go perfect together. In fact, we’ll bet that when you even think of salsa, tortilla chips aren’t far behind. But why not try breaking store-bought salsa free from its perennial companion? Bottled salsa makes it easy to bring a some Southwest flair to any number of meals — not just dinner (though who can resist an oh-so-easy slow-cooked Mexican Black Bean and Beef Soup?), but lunch and even breakfast, too.

Why settle for ordinary chicken salad when you can toss in some spicy salsa and — bam!rev up your workday lunch? It’s just one of any number of ways you can unleash the spicy seductiveness of bottled salsa.

  • I frequently stir red or green salsa into many different types of foods. I had some left over orzo recently. I stirred several spoonfuls of Roasted Salsa Verde into it and sprinkled a little shredded cheese on top. It made a delicious side dish, and also a nice light lunch at work the next day.

It really brightens a fresh garden salad, too, with a side of chips instead of croutons.
