Beer-Turkey Chili

Use a food processor to make short work of chopping the sweet pepper and onion. Chicken works just as well as turkey in this hearty chili recipe.

  • 1 lb.  turkey breast tenderloin or skinless, boneless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-size strips or cubesOn Sale

  • 2 Tbsp.  cooking oilOn Sale
  • 2 28-oz. cans  diced tomatoes, undrainedOn Sale
  • 2 15-oz. cans  black beans or Great Northern beans, rinsed and drainedOn Sale
  • 1 12-oz. can  beerOn Sale
  • 2 Tbsp.  red wine vinegarOn Sale
  • 1 Tbsp.  chili powderOn Sale
  • 1 tsp.  saltOn Sale
  • 1 tsp.  dried oregano, crushedOn Sale
  • 1 tsp.  ground cuminOn Sale
  • 1/4 tsp.  ground black pepperOn Sale
  • 1/4 tsp.  bottled hot pepper sauceOn Sale
  • 1 cup  shredded Monterey Jack or cheddar cheese (4 ounces)On Sale

In a Dutch oven cook turkey or chicken, sweet pepper, onion, and garlic in hot oil until turkey is browned.

Add undrained tomatoes, beans, beer, vinegar, chili powder, salt, oregano, cumin, pepper, and hot pepper sauce. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer about 20 minutes or until turkey is tender, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle some of the cheese over each serving. Makes 8 (1 1/2-cup) servings.
