Batitas are Brazilian fruit juice concoctions made with cachaca and various fruit juices. Serve this drink at any summer party.

Ingredients

Ice cubessee savings

1/2 cupmango, guava, passion fruit, or apricot nectarsee savings

1 -1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons)cachaca (Brazilian colorless rum made from sugar cane) or light rumsee savings

1 tablespoonBar Syrup (see recipe below)see savings

Directions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add nectar, cachaca, and bar syrup. Cover and shake. Strain into a cocktail or martini glass.
Bar Syrup
In a small saucepan stir together 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water. Bring to boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat and cool the syrup. Transfer to a small bowl; cover and chill. Makes 1/2 cup syrup.
