3 cups pound cake crumbs (about half a cake)
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 slices of peeled, cored McIntosh apples (about 1-1/2 pounds, 3 or 4 apples)
2 cups apricot quarters (7 or 8 apricots) OR: peach slices
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sliced almonds
2 tablespoons grated orange rind
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Directions
1. Heat oven to 400 degrees F.
2. Mix crumbs, melted butter and salt. Sprinkle 1/2 cup in 2-1/2-quart shallow baking dish. (Deeper dish needs more baking time.)

4. Bake, covered, in 400 degrees F oven 30 minutes. Uncover; bake 5 minutes or until browned and apples are tender.
