Ingredients
3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup water
1 egg
3 tablespoons margarine or butter, cut up
4 cups bread flour
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons instant Roman-style coffee powder
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
2/3 cup coarsely chopped blanched almonds, toasted
Softened cream cheese
Preserves; nuts; or fresh fruit such as raspberries, champagne grapes, or sliced strawberries
Directions
1. Add the first 10 ingredients to the bread machine pan according to the manufacturer's directions for a 2-pound loaf. Select the basic white bread cycle. If available, try a light-crust color setting.
2. To make tea breads, use a small cookie cutter or canape cutter to cut shapes from a slice of bread. Spread bread shapes with softened cream cheese and top with your choice of preserves, nuts, or fresh fruit. Makes 27 servings.
