Almond-Coffee Bread for 20
This recipe turns a loaf of bread made in a bread machine into delectable tea-time dainties.

Ingredients

2/3 cup milk

1/4 cup water

1 egg
-
2 tablespoons margarine or butter, cut up

3 cups bread flour

3 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons instant Roman-style coffee powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon active dry yeast or bread machine yeast

1/2 cup coarsely chopped blanched almonds, toasted

Softened cream cheese

Preserves; nuts; or fresh fruit such as raspberries, champagne grapes, or sliced strawberries
Directions

Add the first 10 ingredients to the bread machine pan according to the manufacturer's directions for a 1-1/2-pound loaf. Select the basic white bread cycle. If available, try a light-crust color setting.

To make tea breads, use a small cookie cutter or canape cutter to cut shapes from a slice of bread. Spread bread shapes with softened cream cheese and top with your choice of preserves, nuts, or fresh fruit. Makes 20 servings.
Note
For this 1-1/2-pound loaf, the bread machine pan must have a capacity of 10 cups or more.
